
SEDA's One-Day Workshops are geared toward students and coaches
new to the art of debate. Workshops are held in both the North and
the South areas of the province; simply choose the location
that is most convenient for you.
This year's workshops will be held in the South on September 17th,
2011, and in the North on October 1, 2011.
To register for either of these workshops please fill out our
online registration and
membership forms. Also, please remember that all Clubs must
also complete a
Club Registration Form in order to participate in the
Workshops.

Objectives
To provide an opportunity:
- to introduce students and new coaches to debating
- for students and new coaches to watch a live demonstration debate by experienced debaters
- to familiarize coaches with SEDA and its upcoming season of competitive debates
- for students to socialize and work with students from schools around the province
To develop in students and coaches a knowledge of:
- what debate is and its benefits
- different debate styles used by SEDA (discussion and cross-examination)
- fundamental techniques used in debating
To develop skills in:
- organizing information
- listening to and evaluating different ideas
- preparing and dealing with research information
- preparing and delivering a good speech
- preparing and asking questions for cross-examination or discussion debates
