12th Annual McKercher Cup - April 9, 2011
Congratulations to the Winston Knoll Collegiate Gold Team from Regina on winning the 2011 McKercher Cup at this year's Provincial High School Mock Trial Competition, held Saturday, April 9th, at the Queen's Bench Court House in Saskatoon. Winston Knoll met Yorkton Regional High School Team 2 in the final. The team was coached by teachers Scott McKillop and Kelle Crosbie, and advised by Donald McKillop from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice and Jeff Saroka.
Participants of this year's event hailed from across the province with teams from St. Mary High School in Prince Albert, Campbell Collegiate (two teams) and Winston Knoll Collegiate (two teams) in Regina, Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon and Yorkton Regional High School (2 teams).
Individual awards were presented to: Colton D. (Best Witness); SEDA debater Brandyn R. from Yorkton Team 1 (Best Prosecutor sponsored by Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice); Brennan S. (Best Defence Lawyer); and Brenner H. (Best Overall Individual Performance).

11th Annual McKercher Cup - April 27, 2010
Participants at the 11th Annual McKercher Cup Canadian Bar Association Mock Trials on April 27th hailed from across the province with teams from St. Mary High School in Prince Albert, Winston Knoll Collegiate (two teams) in Regina and SEDA member schools North Battleford Comprehensive High School , Campbell Collegiate (three teams), Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon and Yorkton Regional High School (2 teams). SEDA debaters took home several individual awards: Hira Fida from Campbell Collegiate Team 3 (Best Witness); Brandyn R. from Yorkton Team B (Best Prosecutor); Desiree Steele from Holy Cross (J.H. Clyne Harradence, QC Award for Best Defence Lawyer); and Sumaira Ahmed from Campbell Team 3 (Best Overall Individual Performance).

9th Annual McKercher Cup - April 12, 2008
The Canadian Bar Association, Saskatchewan Branch congratulates
Saskatoon's Walter Murray Collegiate on winning the McKercher Cup
at this year's provincial high school mock trial competition, held
Saturday, April 12th at the Queen's Bench Court House in Saskatoon.
The McKercher Cup, sponsored by McKercher LLP, was presented to
Walter Murray Collegiate team members by Donald McKercher,
QC. Members of the winning team (all part of WMCI's debate
club) are Lauren Kapphahn, Meritt Kocdag, Mithum Kularatne, Divya
Pahwa, Ilia Rudnitsky and Teresa Yang. The team was coached
by teacher Shane Armstrong, and advised by Doug Curliss from the
Public Prosecution Service of Canada. Participants of this
year's event hailed from across the province with teams from North
Battleford Comprehensive High School (two teams) in North
Battleford, St. Mary High School in Prince Albert, Campbell
Collegiate (two teams) and Winston Knoll Collegiate (two teams) in
Regina, Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon and Yorkton Regional
High School in Yorkton.
Individual awards were presented to: James B. from North
Battleford (Best Witness); and SEDA members Reagan Seidler from
Campbell Collegiate (Best Prosecutor); Taylor Morrison from Yorkton
Regional High School (J.H. Clyne Harradence, QC Award for Best
Defence Lawyer); and Megan Burns from Holy Cross (Best Overall
Individual Performance).
The CBA would like to thank their suponsors for the generous

8th Annual McKercher Cup - March 24, 2007
Congratulations to the Green team from Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon for winning the 2007 McKercher Cup at the CBA Annual Provincial High School Mock Trial competition, held Saturday, March 24th at the Court of Queen's Bench Court House in Saskatoon.
McKercher McKercher & Whitmore LLP sponsors the McKercher Cup. Mr. Donald S. McKercher, QC presented the McKercher Cup to members of the Holy Cross High School, Green team, on behalf of the firm.
Other competition participants hailed from across the province with teams from North Battleford Comprehensive High School, St. Mary High School in Prince Albert, Sheldon-Williams Collegiate and Winston Knoll Collegiate in Regina, and Yorkton Regional High School. Other teams from Saskatoon included Walter Murray Collegiate, a second team from Holy Cross Collegiate and a team from the Saskatoon Home Educators.
Individual awards were presented to: Shayleen Isaac from North Battleford (Best Witness); Meagan Ong from Saskatoon Home Educators (Best Prosecutor); and Julia Clark from Walter Murray Collegiate (Best Overall Individual Performance) - all members of the Saskatchewan Elocution and Debate Association. Nicole L. from Winston Knoll Collegiate won the J.H. Clyne Harradence, QC Award for Best Defence Lawyer.

7th Annual McKercher Cup - April 1, 2006
Saturday, April 1st, the 7th Annual McKercher Cup (CBA
Saskatchewan Provincial High School Mock Trial Competition) took
place at the Court of Queen's Bench Court House in Saskatoon.
Competing were seven teams from various centres throughout the
province (North Battleford, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon and
Yorkton).
Winston Knoll Collegiate of Regina was presented with the coveted
McKercher Cup, sponsored by McKercher McKercher & Whitmore LLP
on Saturday evening at the Awards Banquet. Members of the winning
team are Travis A., Maria B., Scott D., Shane Horton (SEDA
debater), Nicole L. and Kirstie S. The Holy Cross Collegiate
team from Saskatoon was runner up. Individual awards were
presented to: SEDA debaters Janelle Berscheid from Bishop James
Mahoney (Best Witness) and Shane Horton from Winston Knoll
Collegiate (Best Overall Individual Performance). Awards also went
to Galen R. from Holy Cross Collegiate (Best Prosecutor); Conor H.
from St. Mary High School (J.H. Clyne Harradence, QC Award for Best
Defence Lawyer). Guest speaker for the evening was the Honourable
Mr. Justice Grant Currie of the Court of Queen's Bench for
Saskatchewan.

5th Annual McKercher Cup - April 3, 2004
The fifth annual McKercher Cup Mock Trial Competition for Saskatchewan high school students was held on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the Saskatchewan Court of Queen's Bench Court House in Saskatoon. High school students from around the province gathered in the city to play roles in a criminal trial including prosecutor, defence counsel and witnesses.
This year there were eight teams competing for the coveted
McKercher Cup: H. Hardcastle School from Edam, North
Battleford Copmprehensive High School, St. Mary High School in
Prince Albert, Dr.Martin Leboldus High School and Winston Know
Collegiate from Regina, Bedford Road Collegiate and Walter Murray
Collegiate from Saskatoon and Yorkton Regional High School.
Following the competition there was an Awards Banquet at the Delta
Bessborough Hotel. The emcee for the evening was Joel Hesje,
QC (McKercher McKercher & Whitmore). We were privileged to have
Madam Justice Gene Anne Smith speak at the awards banquet.
Her remarks centred on Charter issues
A number of individual awards were presented at the end of the
evening. As anyone who has attended past competitions would
know, the student performances were excellent, and the adjudicators
had a tough time determining the award recipients. Individual
awards were presented to Adam F. from Bedford Road Collegiate (Best
Prosecutor sponsored by Balfour Moss); Monique K. from Winston
Knoll Collegiate (Best Witness sponsored by MacPherson Leslie &
Tyerman); and SEDA debaters Ian Johnsrude (J.H. Clyne Harradence QC
Award for Best Defence Lawyer sponsored by Harradence Logue Holash)
and Carlene Variyan (Best Overall Individual Performance sponsored
by McDougall Gauley). The 1st Runner Up Team Award (sponsored
by Sanderson Balicki Popescul) was presented to Bedford Road
Collegiate. The McKercher Cup, sponsored by the McKercher,
McKercher & Whitmore firm, was presented to the winning team
from Yorkton Regional High School, by Donald McKercher, QC.
