To earn your points, all members* must be registered with SEDA

*member includes paid registered clubs, paid debaters, all coaches, and card-carrying "friends" of SEDA (participants in SEDA programs, but not paid members)

  • Club membership: 2 points for every paid debater; 1 points for every coach (2nd point for coaches of paid clubs); 1 point for every registered "friend" of SEDA in the club; 5 points if a member is on the board or wins a SEDA Volunteer award; 1 bonus pt/member in an English club debating in French
  • Members attending training:

o        Summer Day Camp (participant or facilitator) - 1 point/day

o        Weekend Workshop (participant or facilitator) - 2 points for the two days

o        One-day Workshop (intro/advanced as participant or facilitator) - 1 point/day

  • Hosting a workshop, tournament or informal inter-club debate in your club

o        5 base points, plus 1 point for each judge that attends

o        10 extra points for hosting a Provincial Championship (debate or speech)

  • Helping at another club's tournament

o        1 point for each member acting as a moderator or timekeeper

o        1 point for each member acting as a judge or other volunteer

  • Members attending any SEDA speech or debate tournament, try-outs, Pro-Am, Canada Day, informal inter-club get-togethers, Model Legislature, Mock Trials, MUNA or other SEDA sanctioned events, (plus double the points for Debate Provincials)

o        1 point for each member attending, plus if the event is competitive:

o        3 points for each of 1st place team or speaker

o        2 points for each of 2nd place team or speaker

o        1 point for each of 3rd place team or speaker

  • Individual members attending Inter-provincial and other special events:

o        5 points for each of: Westerns, Junior Nationals, National Seminar, National Championships, (15 points if your club hosted!), plus CanWest Speech Nationals, MUNA, Team Canada Try-outs, or other SEDA-selected National competitions

o        10 points for North Americans, a Team Canada spot, Individual Public speaking and Debating Championships or other international competitions

o        20 points for attending Worlds Championships as a debater (10 as a judge)

o        25 points for attending a debate event outside of Saskatchewan not covered by SEDA's selection process & submitting a report (Asper Cup, Trojan Cup, McGill, Tardiff, Debate Camp...) Double points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd placing (as above)!

  • Promotion & Recruiting (following to be confirmed by club coach in writing)

o        5 points for each demonstration debate performed for your school audience

o        10 points for each demonstration debate performed for another school

o        15 points for each member actively mentoring/coaching another club

o        20 points for each member who assists SEDA with recruiting workshops

  • 10 points each time debate used in other clubs or activities to promote debate & speech

 

The North & the South Elementary Club with the most points will earn $50 for a wrap-up party courtesy of SEDA!

The North & the South High School Club with the most points will earn $75 for a wrap-up party courtesy of SEDA!

To be eligible for the wrap up party, club and debater fees must be paid

Winners determined by clubs with the most "firsts" in each of 5 categories:

Total members; most paid members, Total points earned, average points earned by paid members; average points earned by all members
