Program Coordinator / Administrative Assistant

Saskatchewan Elocution and Debate Association SEDA is a non-profit, charitable organization that promotes debate and speech activities in English and French. SEDA is active throughout the province with students in grades 5 to 12, and at the two universities. The association co-ordinates an annual program of debate tournaments and other special events.

This is a highly rewarding job working with youth and volunteers. We are looking for someone with good organizational habits, who has debate knowledge, ties to the teaching community, works well with the public, basic office skills, experience with Mac computers, website updating and multimedia (photo/video) projects.  On the job training will be provided as you work with the vibrant debate community in Saskatchewan.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in planning and carrying out all SEDA programs; prepare support packages and mail outs, maintain statistics, registrations, and membership lists, create and post invitations

Attend SEDA hosted events and provide organizational support to the hosts and Executive Director

Writing cheques and receipts, bank deposits, simple invoicing

Correspond with stakeholders, maintain files and DVD library, purchase office supplies, coordinate printing needs, keep the office organized

Maintain and edit photo and video archives

Design annual report, newsletter, handbooks, etc.,

Use social media sites for networking

Update web site with a content management system

Research and prepare informational packages on debate topics

Clerical support

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Debate and public speaking knowledge

The desire and experience to work with youth and volunteers

Strong Mac, Word, Excel, google docs, photography, social media and layout design skills

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly in person and via telephone and email

The ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Experience in fundraising, event organization, French-speaking an asset but not required

DETAILS

Permanent full-time

37.5 hours a week/ 5 days a week, with approximately 30 days of expected overtime on evenings and weekends during the year

approximately $23,000/year
